FAQs
Technical FAQs
Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes. Students and families are responsible for providing their own computer and internet service. Qualified, enrolled families may be eligible to receive a loaner computer from Nevada Virtual Academy (NVVA) to support the learning process. These computers are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. NVVA will arrange for technical support and troubleshooting for these systems.
What computer skills are required?
Use of the computer is an important part of the online school program. The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Middle school and high school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.
Do I need high speed internet access to attend?
No. Although high-speed internet access definitely makes the experience of learning online much more satisfying, it is not absolutely necessary. Some geographic areas unfortunately do not have high-speed access available. However, for those areas that do, it is the preferred type of access for the program.
How do I get technical support?
NVVA families in need of customer care or technical support for computers or the online school can call 866.512.2273 (select option 2).
What does the computer system loaned by NVVA include?
